Based on state legislature and the Becca Bill, attendance is not only critical for success, but a legal requirement. Absences MUST be reported in order to be determined if they are excused. You can now email your child’s absences to BellAttendance@lwsd.org , please include the following:
The student’s FIRST & LAST NAME and GRADE
The REASON for the absence
The LENGTH of the absence (entire day(s) or specific time)
You may also call and report your child’s absence on the school attendance line: 425-936-2511, then select the option for “reporting an absence”.
The state enforces attendance for students 180 days of the year. If your family needs to travel or take vacation outside of the district’s break time, new state attendance law states that in order for the absence to be excused, there must be pre-approval by the principal. When scheduling family travel plans or vacations, please do so during the district scheduled breaks. If your plans are unavoidable and fall within the normal school year, please send an approval request (prior to the vacation) to both Erika Langley (secretary) and Brian Story (principal). You can find that form HERE.
